After 5 amazing years since the release of the first ever Bouldering Guidebook to the West Kootenays the time has come for the new (2nd) edition. With over 800 NEW problems, 550 pages, a whole new chapter and a little tweaking with the look, the 2nd Edition is destined to be MEGA! There are now a total of 1765 Problems spread over 4 chapters with several new areas including, Ymir Boulders, Goose Creek, the Kamikaze Boulder and many others. The new chapter ‘CASTLEGAR’ features 6 new stellar areas that are destined to become classic and popular with their short approaches and high density of quality bouldering. Almost every zone from the first edition has seen an update, upgrade and/or addition of new problems.
There has also been big news from the access side of things with the creation of the ‘Ladybird Creek’ Recreation Area (camping and solidified access) and the Keenlyside Boulders being tied into the Hiking & Biking Area spearheaded by the Castlegar Trails Society. All in all a great time for bouldering in the West Kootenays.
